Chris Force, Rhymefest, and Jessica Hopper are some names all you library-lovers are probably familiar with by now. They make up 3/4 of our judging panel for the CHIPUBLIB Sound Off Music Contest.
Your sleepless nights caused by nightmares of an incomplete judging panel, the 4th judge’s face a dark, hazy void, can come to an end. We’d like to introduce our 4th judge, Matthew Genthe, head of CPL’s Music Information Center.
His musical voyage started with a cassette loaned to him by a neighbor, with a Misfits album dubbed on one side and a Dead Kennedy’s album on the other. That cassette started him playing guitar in the pop rock bands he has wandered through ever since.
Matthew’s initial plan was to be a teacher. It didn’t take him long to realize that he preferred the calm of the library to the chaos of the classroom, however. He earned his Masters Degree in Library Science from Wayne State University in Detroit and started working for CPL in 2001. After working at CPL for 4 years, Matthew’s passions meshed together perfectly he found himself working in his dream job: Head of the Music Information Center at CPL.
