Check out this great article (even if you’re not a girl), for a nice summary of what the Chicago Public Library has to offer.
They even do a little hypothetical calculation of how using CPL can save you a ton of money:

Glamour Two-Year Subscription ($15)
Museum of Contemporary Art admission ($10)
Ravinia Lawn Seat ($10)
Total = $97.95
*According to List Prices

Reserve a copy of Twilight ($0)
Reserve Sex and the City - The Movie ($0)
Reserve Britney’s new album ($0)
Read Glamour at the library each month or check out back issues ($0)

You know how we’re always all “Woohoo, not what you think, CDs movies, go library!!!?” (No, that was not an exact quote. We’re not that creepy). Well, we figured it was time to enlighten our loyal readers about another something special we’ve got for you here at CPL.
Music books. Like this one. So tear yourself away from Beatles Rock Band for two seconds and learn the real stuff (it actually might be easier, anyway…those drums on Rock Band are hard. Ringo = under-appreciated).
“Woohoo, not what you think, CDs, movies, music books, go library!!”
When it comes to holiday movies you can’t beat Charlie Brown, and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown might just be the best of them all.
And guess where you can get it?
Blockbuster.
Psht, just kidding. CPL, of course!
Great Tribune article on CPL and its commissioner, Mary Dempsey.
This pumpkin right next to one carved with the CPL logo would look great sitting outside the Harold Washington Library Center, don’t you think?
I love Halloween.
eff-this: Chicago flag pumpkin found at School and Paulina, on the way to breakfast this morning. A start to another good day :)
At first I was a bit confused. “Why is Yoda sitting on top of a pile of books? And why is he wearing glasses?”
Once I realized that the green creature wasn’t Yoda (actually, it’s a worm), it all made sense. He’s a bookworm. Brilliant. This kid has “Future CPL Librarian” written all over him.
We appreciate the effort, but Mr. Bean needs to chill out…it’s not like that here.
